Summary

Ash flipped through a couple of pages to find the table of contents, tapping the yellowish paper. The first title on the list. ‘A Perfect Day for Bananafish’. “A while back, Dr. Meredith mentioned this story to me in relation to Banana Fish. He told me that Salinger wrote that everyone who witnesses a ‘Bananafish’ will suddenly feel like dying, or something along those lines. I wanted to read the story for myself to better understand it.”

“If it’s a short story, you must’ve read it a couple of times by now,” Eiji speculated, reaching out to take the book from Ash’s hands. Ash permitted him to, watching the boy’s fingers browse through the pages.

“I have,” he admitted. “Mostly because it’s not like what Dr. Meredith described it as at all.”

Ash reads 'A Perfect Day for Bananafish' by J.D. Salinger to figure out its connection with the drug, but ends up finding a different meaning in the short story.
