Summary
“The sky is no longer mine to indulge in,” Xiao says. There’s a careful sort of sadness to his voice, a poised and practiced control that speaks to the true weight of his emotion. He shifts his weight and the fabric at his back moves with it- only to slip to the side to reveal the twin twisted ropes of scars that line Xiao's back. They are still raised and reddened, still stark against pale skin- obvious through the transparency of Xiao’s clothes, though Aether knows they must be centuries old. “Morax has spoken to me of his regret for the terms of my contract, but it was made in his name and as such the terms are set in stone. Past actions cannot be revoked, and choices are made to be lived with. Such is the nature of contracts.”
Or, in which Aether unlocks a small piece of backstory from Xiao who promptly word vomits it all out when asked one (1) question.
