Summary
---
Glancing over, she takes note that Edelgard hadn’t even touched her dinner yet. Instead, the emperor was once again keeping careful watch of the campsite. Byleth’s stomach growls in a tone low enough that only she could hear, and it hardens her heart.
Her time at the officer’s academy had come to a spectacular finish when her star pupil had ascended the throne and declared war on the social and political structures that governed Fódlan - in essence, declaring war over the continent as a whole. And Byleth, compelled by the trust she held for Edelgard, followed her in a single act of betrayal.
But now she planned to do something far, far worse; steal the tempting morsels of food from her best friend’s plate.
---
