The words of his father echo in his young mind as Nico enters the thick forest in the middle of the afternoon. The forest is the last place he wanted to be in, but they ran out of wood for the fireplace two days ago and his dad hasn't been back from his trip and his sisters are cold and hungry. Bianca has been bed-ridden a few days before the snowstorm even arrived and Hazel is too young to be wandering out alone. As the man of the house, it is up to him to take care of his sisters, or at least until his father comes home from trading to two towns over.
