Summary
“So what did the admiral want?” Mr. Bush asked when Horatio returned from the ship.
The answer was obvious, of course – at least it was to Archie but then again, he had known Horatio a lot longer than Mr. Bush had and seen him at both his best and worst and everything in-between over the years. There was a spring in Horatio’s step when he walked up the stairs that hadn’t been there this morning – a tell-tale sign just like the spark in his eyes Archie had missed dearly these past few months they’d been forced to stay on land.
It was that very spark that now weighed heavily on his heart for he knew it could only mean one thing.
“A commander,” Horatio said, unable to keep that boyish, excited grin off his face and confirming what Archie had already known. And feared. “For the Hotspur.”
Horatio gets command of the Hotspur. Archie gets left behind.
