Summary
Ryūji was certain it started because of the gas station.
Rin had been a little tense for the entire drive, but he was mostly blaming it on the fact that his boyfriend didn’t like being up as early as they had to be for the drive. But the gas station had been the worst kind. They were in the back woods in the middle of nowhere, which was always a problem for their relationship because the less populated a place got the more they tended to have narrow ideas of what a relationship could and should be. It had looked alright, and the men had been friendly enough until Rin had grabbed his elbow to get his attention about a sale on beef jerky.
Apparently something about the way he’d grabbed Ryūji’s elbow hadn’t settled with the men right. The looks had stopped being friendly and the atmosphere had gone bad. Ryūji had paid for their gas and snacks, Rin had continued to be light and bubbly as he got them a few drinks and kissed him once they were safely back in the car.
Ryūji left and mentally cursed the hicks who couldn’t let them get gas without those mutters and glares.
