Summary
“Do you ever miss them?” Fingers stroking along her hairline. “The seas, on earth?”
Santa Monica pier. Sasha’s hand clasped in Anne’s and Anne’s hand clasped in hers, swimming through the sea of people. Mint chip aftertaste on her tongue, and everything they do, they do for each other.
“No.” Swallowing thickly. Shaking her head. “There are too many people on earth. And the beach is always loud, and packed, and polluted with people who just can’t seem to get themselves together…” Olivia chuckles gently, caressing away the sun cream on her chin. “Hmm. That does sound unfortunate.”
Marcy laughs too, rather dryly. “Wait until you hear about global warming.”
"I know,” she’s saying this in that wise, mom voice of hers, all drawled out and gentle as the morning dew on her windowsill. “Sometimes, things could be horrible. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still miss it.”
OR, yunan, olivia and marcy has a beach day, and marcy comes to terms with summer.
