Sword Lily Daisy Blade

Dimitri's hair is coming undone, the blue ribbon barely strung together. Felix knows what it feels like to watch it finally slip out, she could slip a finger beneath the knot, tug enough for Dimitri to notice, turn her face down, really see Felix. She is so good at looking ahead, always—towards her future, towards the people she will serve, towards Fhirdiad (many days away by horse), towards the crown. Chin up high, Dimitri is always occupied with years that have not come yet. “Go back to your room, boar.” Felix drags her tongue against the edges of her teeth. “It’s going to start storming.”And Dimitri, who only looks at the future, turns to Felix like she deserves to be part of it. “And yet here you are.”
