Red-Letter Day

Hyunjin stared at the reflection in the mirror before him.Dressed in flowy silk robes of crimson, the stranger stared back at him. His long black locks had been brushed till they were shiny, offsetting the ruby of his lips and cheeks. He looked like the very vision of the bride that every groom wished to marry, a dolled-up embodiment of beauty and loveliness. But the expression on that stranger’s face wasn’t one typical of brides on their happiest days but instead belonged somewhere at a funeral. The corners of those lips painted in red were curved downwards in sadness, those lovely features frozen in sorrow.// There was a hijacked wedding, a stolen bride and a promise in red.
