old-town gossip gossip

Something rustled in the distance and Tommy took the first step inside the house after a brief moment of hesitation. And immediately he wanted to leave and not come back. “Dad?” he called but received no answer. “Phiiil? Not funny,” he dropped his bag in the middle of the hallway next to the stairs that lead upstairs. The small sack of lavender in his luggage served as a small source of safety as he walked further inside. “Dad. Where did you go? Dad?”

Loud thumps from the back of the house indicated where his dad was and Tommy made it over as quickly as possible, through the front hall and the living room. They were used to everything beyond life and death and the paranormal, but to say it didn’t have an effect on Tommy would be a damn lie.

Or,In which Phil and Tommy move into a new house and it doesn't go as smoothly as they'd hoped. Tommy is warned not to dig up old-town gossip but does it anyways. What follows is hopefully not related to haybales.
