Summary
It was warmer than he imagined, and it was still beating. The heart didn’t taste like anything but something sated in him. There was a sense of calm right before he felt the powers of all the witches absorb beneath his fingertips. He saw glimpses of their deaths. It was more like whispers and screams across his skin, each one more gruesome than the next. When he finally looked up, Gabriel's just polished a cigarette off, flung it from the tips of fingers and pushed the bud into the ground with the heel of his boot. Their eyes meet. Gabriel's expression is unreadable, but something like the ghost of a smile curls at the corner of his mouth. His eyes, a deep shade of royal blue that pops against the expansion of green.Nathan never noticed before, but Gabriel’s eyes were like mood rings. Nathan feels the blood spill over from the side of his lips and he chanced a glance at Annalise. But she’s nowhere to be found.
