The Geometry of Grief

Post-Nibelheim, Sephiroth's existence revolves around obsessively dwelling on the things he's lost and equally obsessively clinging to what's left of them. Post-Meteor, Cloud is trying to grieve for the boy he forgot and the hero who almost killed them both. And Zack? Post-being-kicked-out-of-the-lifestream, Zack is still dead. You’d think that would make things less complicated for him, but you’d be dead wrong.Ha. Corpse joke. Go on, laugh. Please. Right now, his sense of humor is pretty much all Zack has going for him.(Zack lurches back to life at the bottom of a mako pool about three years too late to stop Sephiroth's psychotic break, Aerith's death, or Cloud's spiral into self-destruction. But maybe he's not too late to change their futures.)
