Summary
The glimmering golden bookplate makes Gerard pause, but he forces himself to turn the page. It’s a short book, and he’s only distantly aware of time passing. He can feel Gertrude’s heavy stare the entire time, and as he gets closer and closer to the end of the book, the weight of Beholding feels more present. His headache eases, but his eyes start to prickle with pain. He reads the final words, and agony rips through his entire body. When the dust settles and everything slots back into focus, he tilts his head at Gertrude. Did it work? he tries to ask.Tries. All that comes out is a grating caw.-An AU where Gerry becomes a bird in order to cure his cancer. He finds Jon, and the two of them grow closer.
