Summary
Ethan ought to have sold the farm when Mom died. If he'd gone to college then, he could be more than a decade into a new career by now. But presumably any job also gets boring when you do it every day for your entire life. So here he is, closing in on sixty, and farming is all he's ever done, and it's as boring as it's ever been.(Then some strangers show up talking about eigenstates and alternate universes, and at least life stops being boring.)
