Summary
Elim Garak didn’t have a daemon. He wasn’t particularly surprised by this. It was well known, at least by him, that his soul had been very carefully folded and shaped – mutilated, some would say – into a form best to serve Kardassi’ya.Garak in specific never felt the lack, especially when he saw what his fellow agents who had them had to go through.Until he’d landed on Terok Nor, an embarrassed and angry exile, when any form of enjoyable company would have been a much-needed (tho’ barely acknowledged) comfort. It was only then that he felt the lack. Surrounded on all sides by those who had them, reminded at every turn just how alone he was now, Garak found himself wishing for his daemon – any daemon, really – to appear. He was constantly to be disappointed.
