always remember (the burning embers)

Daphne’s voice comes out after the crowd dies a little. She gives a perfectly white smile and exclaims, “May I present the male volunteer for District Four of the 62nd Annual Hunger Games: Elijah Mikaelson!”If the cheers were booming before, they are ear-splitting now. An older son of a victor, one who has passed his Academy training if the lack of volunteer calling is any indication, and a daughter of another victor, a Bennett girl enrolled in the Academy. This seemed to be wrapping up to be an interesting year after all.
