Summary
The raucous laughter and loud jeering in the barracks fades into muttered bemusement and then to bewildered silence. Gurney turns his head, follows everyone's gaze, and sees the young heir of House Atreides standing there at the foot of the stairs, his expression one of great relief. A few of the men begin to stand; the duke's son is the duke's son, even when he is all of seven years old and in his nightshirt.Paul says, in a high-pitched but lofty imitation of Duke Leto's cadence, "At ease. I will just sit over there." He points to the corner and proceeds to scamper past them.Gurney intercepts him, hauling his duke's son into his arms. "Whoa there, young sir! Just what do you think you're doing out of bed?""I woke up," Paul tells him.---Paul has a nightmare and goes to see Gurney.
