Summary
“You once accused me of having another rider,” Reynolds says, voice soft and sleepy now that their hearts have calmed down and they’ve both caught their breaths. He is resting against Brimsley’s chest as he often does afterwards, and Brimsley wishes he could see his face because he has no idea what brought this on. He had all but forgotten about that moment below stairs; a lot has happened since then, from him and the queen finding out about the king’s fits to discovering the so-called treatment that awful doctor had been employing to cure them.
“I’m not sure I would use the word ‘accused’,” Brimsley says slowly, hoping to draw a chuckle out of Reynolds, or at least one of those infamous indignant looks full of fire he loves so much. The long, weary sigh he receives in response instead makes him frown. “You laughed at the notion if I remember correctly.”
Reynolds nods. “And you did not believe me even though I spoke the truth.”
After there are no more secrets to keep, Reynolds and Brimsley talk.
