good night and joy be with you all

It’s the first snow in Piltover this year.Vi sits at the window and watches the flakes fall, quieting the world outside. Everything seems to be holding its breath. She can’t help her wonder; it never snowed like this in the fissures. The trees grow frosty, each branch iced over with the softest looking fluff. A memory reaches forward from the back of her mind, one she hasn’t thought about in years. It’s an early memory, one from her childhood, one so soft and tender and sweet it catches in her chest. She loses herself to it, lets it wash over her as the snow continues falling.“Where are you?” Caitlyn asks, sitting down next to her.Vi looks away from the window, at Caitlyn, radiant in the light. “Just watching the snow.”“You look like you’re a million miles away.” Caitlyn traces a finger across Vi’s cheek; her finger comes away wet. “That smile tells me maybe it’s somewhere good?”Vi exhales. It’s a little shaky. “Oh. Yeah. Just remembering.”—vi and caitlyn patch up some new and old wounds together.
