Aladdin and the Clever Monkey

This story is based on an Arabian Nights tale called "Abu Muhammad the Sluggard". When I read that story, I was amazed by how many similarities it had to Aladdin - both the original tale and the Disney movie. When I saw the hero actually had a monkey companion, I just knew I had to write an Aladdin version!Aladdin lives in a poor hovel with his mother, and their struggles are not helped by the latter wanting Aladdin to become a tailor and work for a living when all he wants to do is get inside the royal palace. But when Aladdin receives a pet monkey named Abu, everything changes for him. Suddenly he is so successful he is attracting attention from the palace itself - but the Royal Vizier Jafar may have his own plans for Aladdin....
