Pepper has a complicated relationship with her birthday. Bad things just happen on that day. Not every year, but it's happened enough for her to be wary of holding events on or around that day. When she started working for Tony, part of her was a little bit relieved when he expressed dislike for her having personal plans. It meant she could blame her desire not to celebrate her birthday on Tony’s dramatics in order to skate around the annual “what are you doing to celebrate” calls from her college friends, work colleagues, and family. So what happens when Tony randomly and voluntarily gives Pepper the day off for her thirty-fifth birthday?
