Summary
When responding to a distress call on one of the Federation's colony planets, the Enterprise and her crew arrive too late to save all of the colonists from the explosion of their main reactor. Some of them are able to be transported aboard the ship before the force of the explosion and radiation kill them, along with a very strange man with a biology not to be expected in a colony of humans on a formerly uninhabited planet- a man with two hearts.
