"And the Hound is humming you/A lie, a lullaby"The company wouldn't be complete without their burglar, even if Nori insists that he could fulfill that role himself. And Bilbo wouldn't be complete without his family. His family that have gone where he cannot follow, the family that is already dead. No. Bilbo would be complete without them, he still had his home afterall. The dwarrow did not have that, even if they still had some of their family. So of course he comes along, for the grief that is not his own. He will help them win back their home. But what is it that Bilbo finds inside the crust of the world? Grief, pain, loss, and certainly not himself. But it's what he loses that drives this story.
